I am happily married and the proud mother of three amazing children. We currently reside in Raleigh, North Carolina, but I am a Texan at heart! Originally from Dallas, I graduated from Skyline High School (Go Raiders!). I have a BA degree from Harvard University and a MBA from the Ross School of Business at University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.
Educator Carter Woodson said, “The true meaning of leadership is service.” I consider myself a “professional community volunteer” and enjoy using my business expertise to help non-profit organizations achieve their goals. I have served as president and on the board of directors of many community and civic organizations. In addition, I am a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Jack and Jill of America, Inc. and The Links, Incorporated. There is no better combination than sisterhood and service.
When I was a child, I always had a book in my hand. I remember going to the mall with my friends in middle school but always insisting that we stop at the bookstore! I learned early in life that books can serve as an escape but more importantly an instructor or a guide into new experiences and new worlds.
I was reading a book, when I decided that I wanted to write one. Although my professional writing experience in the past was primarily nonfiction and business writing, after toying with a couple of ideas, I landed on the idea for my debut novel. NAIL IT: Breaking into the Black Elite is a tale of one woman’s quest to enter the world of money, pedigree, and protocol. I continue the story of Sahara Kyle in GAME ON, and wrap up the trilogy in Winner Takes All. I am so excited about its release. I know that you will love it!
